Why is persuasion an art?

Persuasion is the act of convincing


someone to change their beliefs or
do something you suggest.

When someone lists all the


reasons why you should do
something, this is an
example of persuasion..
Definitions
◦ a)persuade: cause (someone) to believe something, especially after a sustained effort;
convince.
Argue: give reasons or cite evidence in support of an idea, action, or theory, typically with the
aim of persuading others to share one's view .

Explanation Audience:  the group of spectators at a public


event; listeners or viewers collectively, as in
attendance at a theater or concert: The audience
was respectful of the speaker's opinion. ... a regular
public that manifests interest, support, enthusiasm,
or the like; a following: Every art form has its
audience.
Purpose: the reason why something is done or
used : the aim or intention of something
Context  :the words that are used with a certain word or
phrase and that help to explain its meaning
Reasons for why someone  creates an advertisement

• To get people to buy the products


• To inform people
• Portray the companies image
Types of advertisement
◦ persuasive advertisement: Persuasive advertising is a method of advertising that attempts to convince a
consumer to purchase a product or service by appealing to their needs and desires. This advertising method
attempts to frame products in a positive light and convince consumers about its benefits. People should
know about it because  Persuasive advertising convinces a consumer to purchase your product or service
based on how they feel about it, not facts. These strategies allow you to establish credibility through well-
constructed arguments. These arguments cause people to believe you and do something about it

Informative Advertising ;

informative advertising is advertising that is carried out in a factual manner. This form of advertising relies
solely on the goods or services strengths and features, rather than trying to convince customers to buy a
product using emotion. The use of emotion in [advertising] is classified as persuasive advertising.
