Project Title

Table Saw Project

Submitted by
ABSTRACT

The table saw is typically thought of as the workhorse of the

woodshop, as it is likely the most versatile and productive of all
woodworking machines. In a cutting-edge table saw, depth of the
cut is shifted by moving the sharp edge all over: the higher the
edge juts over the table, the deeper is the cut made. The point of
cut is controlled by altering the sharp edge. A table saw is a
woodworking tool, consisting of a circular saw blade, mounted on
an arbor, that is driven by an electric motor. Motor and arbor are
connected with the help of timing pulley and belt. This table saw
tool can be used for cross-cut, miter-cut, square, dado, rabbet, and
even apply shapes to edges of wood stock.
Advantages

 The machine can solve the problem of time consumption.

 Waste of resources in face of labor cost is reduced.
 The machine can be used in the industry where it is
manufactured, at the packaging sector.
 And it is used as hardware in large quantity like in
fabrication of wood products.

 Testing
Finalizing Mechanisms
Step 1: Make a list of required hardware outputs
Step 2: Examine the mechanism architecture
Step 3: Select the architecture
Step 4: Identify Motion Needs
Step 5: Start searching for mechanisms & Parts
Step 6: Examine Costs and Power Constraints. ...
Step 7: Check part availability
Step 8: Calculate Sizes
Step 9: Fabricate parts

Project Design
Mechanical Design or Machine Design is one of the important
branches of Engineering Design. To understand what exactly machine
design or mechanical design is let us consider the example of the
gear box of the car. The gear box transmits the motion and the
power of the engine to the wheels of the vehicle. The gearbox
comprises group of gears which are subjected to not only motion but
also the load of the vehicle. For the gears to run at desired speeds
and take desired loads it is important that they should be designed.
Parts Procurement

Once the design is complete parts are to be procured so

that project development may proceed

Mechanical parts can be procured from local stores or online through

nevonexpress.com
Parts Fabrication

It is a value added process that involves the creation of machines,

parts, and structures from various raw materials. A fabrication shop
will bid on a job, usually based on the engineering drawings, and if
awarded the contract will build the product.

Fabrication Processes:
• Turning • Welding
• Boring • Drilling
• Threading • Metal Cutting
• Cutting • Threading
Project Assembly

Mechanical assembly is a common term in the industrial and

manufacturing context. It is the process used in the line of
assembly production. As products are moved through the chain,
parts are added at certain points of the line.
Testing

Mechanical testing includes testing each part of the machine/robot

individually followed by the complete testing after which the
project is ready to be used.

 Screws & Bolts
Motors
A DC motor is any of a class of rotary electrical machines that converts direct current
electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most common types rely on the forces
produced by magnetic fields. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism,
either electromechanical or electronic, to periodically change the direction of current flow
in part of the motor.

DC motors were the first type widely used, since they could be powered from existing
direct-current lighting power distribution systems. A DC motor's speed can be controlled
over a wide range, using either a variable supply voltage or by changing the strength of
current in its field windings.

Basic DC Motors are Available in local shops, but for special ones and all
variety at cheap prices online sources like nevonexpress.com can be used
Shafts / Axle
An axle is a central shaft for a rotating wheel or gear. On wheeled vehicles, the
axle may be fixed to the wheels, rotating with them, or fixed to the vehicle, with
the wheels rotating around the axle.[1] In the former case, bearings or bushings
are provided at the mounting points where the axle is supported. In the latter
case, a bearing or bushing sits inside a central hole in the wheel to allow the
wheel or gear to rotate around the axle. Sometimes, especially on bicycles, the
latter type axle is referred to as a spindle.

Shafts/Axle can be manufactured from industries by online order via

Pulley & Belts
A belt is a loop of flexible material used to link two or more rotating shafts
mechanically, most often parallel. Belts may be used as a source of motion, to
transmit power efficiently or to track relative movement. Belts are looped over
pulleys and may have a twist between the pulleys, and the shafts need not be
parallel.
In a two pulley system, the belt can either drive the pulleys normally in one direction
(the same if on parallel shafts), or the belt may be crossed, so that the direction of
the driven shaft is reversed (the opposite direction to the driver if on parallel shafts).

Pulley & Belts can be ordered/manufactured from industries by online order via

Bearing Housing
As we know to obtain any frictionless rotary motion we need bearings to be
fitted on the shaft and to fix the bearing in the machine we need bearing
housings.
Bearing housings can be made of different types and sizes according to the
requirement.
It can be made up of any material which is suitable to the machine and climatic
conditions where the machine is to be used.
Bearin housings can be obtained from special bearing housing suppliers or
online via nevonexpress.com
