What is IOT?
• The internet of thing (IOT) is the network of physical object or things
embedded with electronics,software,sensors,and network
connectivity which enabels these object to collcet and exchange data.
• IOT is an ecosystem of connected physical objects that are accessibl
through the Internet .
• IOT allows object to be sensed and controlled remotely across existing
network infrustrutur ,creating opportunaties for more direct
integration between the physical world and computer based systems
and resulting in improved efficiency ,accuracy and economic benefit.
History of IOT.
• The main concept of a network of smart devices was discussed as
early as 1982,with amodifyed Coca cola vending machine at
camogie mellon university become the first Internet-connected
appliance.
• The concept of the Internet of Thing first became popular in
1999,through the Auto _ID center at MIT and related market analysis
publication.
• Radio frequency identification was seen as a prerequsisite for the IOT
at the point.
How IOT work
• Internet of thing is the result of several complementary technical
developments provide capabilitys.that means no result of single novel
thcnology.
These capabilities include.
Communication and cooperation .
Addressability .
Identificatoin .
Sensing.
Acutaion .
Embedded information processing.
Localization.
Component of IOT
• Smart system and Internet of thing are deriven by a combination of.
1 sensors
2 connectivity
3 data processing
4 user interface
1. Sensors
• A sensor is a device that measure physical impact from its
environment and converts it into that can be interpraed by acomputer
.
• For example :speed,light,sound,and pressure.
2.Conectivity
Several communications protocols and technology are used in IOT to
connect to internet cloude.
Depend up on range, cost, power usage and data rate.
Example :blutooth,mobile phone and wi-fi.
3.Data processing
• In the process stage computer transforms the raw data into
information. The transformation carried out by using different data
manipulation.
• Example: collect feed of all electrical appliances and extracting car
number from video feed of speed cars.
4. User interface
The information processed is made available to the end user in some
way. Like giving alerts, notification, monitoring continuous feed or
controlling the system remotely.
Why IOT
• Dynamic control of industry and daily life.
• Improve resource utilization ratio.
• Integrating human society and physical systems.
• Flexible configuration.
• Act as technology integration.
• Universal inter-networking.
Advantage of IOT
• Minimize human effort and time .
• Lead to more automation and technical optimization .
• Help to improving the technology .
• Help us to reduce waste and use natural recourse effectively.
• Economic growth.
• Improve comptitvenes.
Disadvantage of IOT
• Security of confidential data is a key concern.
• Can lead to various types of network attack.
Application of IOT
• IOT in health care.
• IOT in smart cities.
• IOT in agriculture.
• IOT in industrial automation.
• IOT in disaster management .
Scope of IOT
• IOT concern device embedded in various system to the internet.
• When devices or object can represent themselves digitalis ,they can
be controlled from anywhere. The connectivity then helps us capture
more data from more places, ensuring more ways of increasing
efficiency.
Challenge of IOT
• AT present IOT is faced with many challenge . Like
Scalability
Security
Technical requirement
Technological standardization
Software complexity
Solution to the challenge
• Several solutions are proposed to overcomes the problems.
Some of them are:-
Overcoming compatibility issue is a significant IOT hurdle, but
emerging companies are starting to enable increased interoperability
through open sources development.
Governments and industry bodies need to set standard and regulation
for the various industries to ensure that data in not misused.
IOT needs to strong authentication methods .encrypted data and a
platform that can track irrgularities on network .
Conclusion
• Projection for the impact of IOT on the internet and economy are
impressive, with some anticipating as many as 100 billion connected
IOT devices and a global economic impact of more than $11 trillion by
2025.
