 Background of the organization and location

• Otto Bilz (India) Pvt. Ltd. was established in the year 1989, at Bengaluru
(Karnataka, India).
• Bilz Tools Pvt. Ltd. was established in the year 2003, at Bengaluru (Karnataka,
India).
• Bilz Information & Technology Services, BITS is an offshoot of Otto Bilz India Ltd
and a wholly owned subsidiary. Set up as Bilz Toolings Private Limited in 2003, the
company has an impressive track record of building innovative software solutions.
• Bilz has state-of-the-art infrastructural facility enables them to meet the bulk as well

 Process

Route card: For manufacturing any type of product, a route card is been already

prepared which includes the material type, operations, types of operations, machine

numbers, hardness, dimensions, and detailed drawing of the product. 

Turning machine: In Turning machine operations like turning, facing, centering,

drilling, boring, threading, grooving operations are carried out.

•Here two types of Turing process take place i.e., Hard turning and Soft turning

• Hard Turning - is used for the removal of materials from the work piece (one side)

• Soft Turning - is used for the removal materials from the work piece (another side)

 Milling machine: In milling machine, operations like end milling and face
milling are performed, balancing slots and balancing holes are drilled.
 Grinding machine: In grinding machine, micron level particles are removed by
both internal and external grinding.
 Primary inspection: After under-going turning and milling operations, the work
piece has been sent for the primary inspection in order to examine the product
quality and dimensions.
 Heating treatment: The product will undergo heat treatment process.

 Sand blasting: The process will be done after heat treating, to remove the extra
surface.

 Blackening: This is carried out to colorize the product for aesthetic.

 CBN(Cubic Boron Nitrine)Hard turning: This process is done for product at
Bilz Tools Private Limited to acquire required dimension, operations like turning,
facing, boring and grooving.
 Assembly Section: Then the workpiece will be assembled at assembly section.

 Grinding: The process will be done to gain surface finishing.

 Balancing test: This test is conducted to reduce the noise, vibration of product
during the process.
 Final inspection and departure: Finally, Final inspection will be done, and the
product is packed and dispatched.

Departments and it’s Functions :

There are mainly 3 departments for different products in the company :

• Tap cell
• Holder cell
• Special cell

 Tap cell :
Tapping is the process of cutting a thread inside a hole so that a cap screw or
bolt can be threaded into the hole. Also, it is used to make thread on nuts.
Regarding of the method, hole must be drilled with the proper size tap drill and
chamfered at the end. Simply it is said that taps are used for internal threading.

Holder cell :

In Holder section different types of tool holders, chucks, clamps are

manufactured. Here most of the products are standard products. Hence, in this
section mass production will take place as the products manufactured are
standard products and also have high demand

Special cell :

• In special section products are manufactured as for the requirement of

the client. Client will provide the information about what type of
product they needed, material to be used for the manufacturing,
drawing of the product, quantity of the products that they needed etc.,

• Based on the requirement provided by the client, the technical team will
check the possibility of Programming and design of desired product. If
any errors will occur, they will interact the client regarding errors about
the design.

• Here the production based on quantity requirement for clients.

 EXPLANATION ABOUT TRAINING UNDERGONE

• During internship, I have taught about different processes of

manufacturing devices and machine handling system.
• We got knowledge about the working process of the different machines in
the manufacturing tools and holders.
• In the entire internship, we had a new experience of handling and operating
machines.
• Safety precautions while doing work in industry is very important, vary
machine as its own skill to operate.

 Conclusion

 During internship, we have taught about different processes of manufacturing

including design, manufacturing, assembly, material handling and Supply.
 We acquired knowledge about working and process of CNC Machines using
different types of CNC machines like turning, milling, grinding.
 We studied about Manufacturing of different types of products like tool
holders, taps, clamps, chucks, special tools.
 In the entire internship, we had a new experience of handling tools and
operating machines.
