1ST INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
 It was a time where man began to understand and use different energy sources.
 It was the time when industries began to reign over the world.
 It all started when we found out a new form of energy – Steam
 The transformation of cities and significant technological developments in a wide
range of areas.
 Many modern mechanisms have their origins from this period.
KEY INVENTIONS
Spinning jenny

 Able to be operated by unskilled workers, it was


a key development in the industrialization of
weaving.
 The weaving of cloth was now no longer
centered in the homes of textile workers, moving
from a ‘cottage industry’ to industrial
manufacture.
COTTON GIN
meaning "cotton engine"

 A machine that quickly and easily


separates cotton fibers from their seeds.
 It was reported that, with an Indian cotton gin,
which is half machine and half tool, one man and
one woman could clean 28 pounds of cotton per
day.
  The invention has thus been identified as an
inadvertent contributing factor to the outbreak of
the American Civil War
WATT STEAM ENGINE

 Steam engine and was one of the driving forces of


the industrial revolution.
 Watt's next improvement to the Newcomen design was to
seal the top of the cylinder and surround the cylinder with
a jacket. 
 The second improvement was the utilisation of steam
expansion against the vacuum on the other side of the
piston
 This increased the eff.ciency of the engine,

 A typewriter is a mechanical or electromechanical machine
for writing characters similar to those produced by a
printer's movable type.
