Move the gantry in case of shaft broken
1. The operator must inform the maintenance person first;
2. Set the crane to maintenance mode instead of normal operation mode
andoperate in the operation station on the ground;
3. Clear all the obstacles on the rail;
4. If there’s a container under spreader, lower it slowly on the ground and
lift up the spreader;
5. Drive the trolley to the nearest parking position and hoist the boom up to
reduce the effects to other cranes;
6. Put two jacks under the bush and jack the wheel. The load of the jack
are as follows:

7. Weld a support between the bogie and beam;
8. Take the jack away and dismantle the wheel ;
9. Drive the gantry slowly to a safe place.

Move the trolley in case of shaft broken
1. The crane operator must inform the maintenance person immediately.
2. Switch the “operation mode” to “maintenance mode”.
3. If there is a container under the spreader, lower the hoist slowly to unlock
the container.
4. Clean all the obstruction on the trolley rail.
5. Run the trolley backward slowly to parking position.
6. Hoist the boom to the stowage position.
7. Turn off the control power.
8. Put a jack under the corner and jack the trolley more than 5mm.
9. Put a slap block under the frame.
10. Remove the jack and tie the wheel to the frame in case it falls down.
11. Drive the trolley to the back reach under the machinery house.
12. Disconnect the wheel with shaft and lift them to the ground with inside
service crane.
13. Dismantle the shaft in the workshop.

Operating the crane after snag
 What is snag?
Snag is a condition that typically occurs when a
lifting spreader hooks or hits an obstruction such as
the cell guides.

 As snag occurs, the ropes’ tension will increase

rapidly and the hydraulic pressure of the snag
cylinders increases correspondingly. When the
pressure of any one of the four cylinders rise to the
preset value, a signal is sent directly to the hoist
drives that initiates an emergency stop to the hoist
motors. At same time, the relief valve will open to
blow the fluid and the cylinders will retract.

www.zpmc.com
Operating the crane after snag
 After the snag occurs, the snag indicating light will be on in the
operator’s cab, an audible warning will be sounded and the
control power will be shut off. Meanwhile, only lowering the
hoist is allowed at the reduced speed to release the strain on
the ropes and no hoist raise motion is permitted.

Brief:
 Once the snag happens
 Pressure send out a signal to main hoist system.
 Main hoist motors will stop at once.
 Emergency brake and high speed brake work together to stop
the main hoist drum.
 Relief valve open.
 Snag cylinder retracts with high speed.
 Wire rope get the compensate length.

Operating the crane after snag

 Firstly inform the maintenance person immediately ,

 The maintenance should inspect whether the steel
structure, mechanism, wire ropes, etc. damaged or not.
 If it does, the measure should be adopted or repaired at
once ;
 If it doesn’t, the snag reset operation can be performed.

Adjust the Motor brake

The brake shall be checked and adjusted

before first operation as follows :
⑴ Adjustment of brake torque
⑵ Adjustment of shoe clearance (the reserve
stroke of thruster hb
)
⑶ Adjusting of shoe clearance balancing

www.zpmc.com
The adjustment of brake torque
Torque adjusting nut

Minimum torque
(adjust it when
switch-off)

The method to adjust: Clockwise turn the torque adjusting

nut with spanner, the length of brake spring becomes
shorter, the braking torque increases, on the contrary the
braking torque reduces.
The adjustment of shoe clearance
Counter-clockwise
rotate the
clearance adjusting
nut, clearance
increase, on the
contrary
decrease( if keep
the thruster power
on, brake in the
release state, then
ease to adjust)
Note: if need
adjust
clearance
bigger, should
dismantal the
compensation
sleeve.

anticlockwise turn the adjustment nut slowly, observe the clearance between
linings till be equal. Finally screw down the lock nut.

Gantry Jacking procedure
1.Move the gantry to proper position. Pay attention
that the jacking force could also not exceed the
allow press force on wharf.
2.Move the trolley to parking position.
3.Install jacking beam under the lower equalizer
beam or upper equalizer beam and fix it. Install the
Jacking beam or thick plate on wharf to reduce the
press on wharf.
Note: Jacking shall be performance when the wind
speed is not big ,usually less than 8.3m/s,about 5
scale of wind speed)

Gantry Jacking procedure
4. Install the jacks and support under jacks. Make sure the jack
and support are stable at any case. Connect the hydraulic
pipe. Two jacks shall have the same pressure to keep the
equalized force.
5) Start to jacking slowly. The force on two end of jacking beams
shall be even.
7) Usually jack up 5~10mm is enough for changing the wheel
bearing or similar tasks.
8) If the jack has to be keep jacking the equalizer beam. Addition
support shall be added to support the equalizer beam.
Make sure the additional support are stable at any case.
9) After maintenance tasks such as changing the bearing. Slowly
lower the jacks, make sure the equalize force on both end of
jacking beam.
