development trajectory as Japan, Britain
Germany, and France after the WW-II.
• But Chinese started much later which
lead to modern liberal model for the
economy.
• The myth that US made is that
Democracy is an inevitable for economic
development, which hit then hard after
seeing Chinese reforms.

more Hollywood movies as well
• On the other hand China only allows only 42 foreign films to screen per year to preserve its
culture and values.
• In 2018 Wanda Groups of China built worlds largest cinema studio, and the same company
bought Hollywood's movie giant AMC IN 2012.

• Between 1997 and 2013 Chinese production of Hollywood movies were only 12 in the top 100 highest grossing
films, but in the next 5 years that is 2014 to 2018 its 41 in the 100 highest grossing films.
• For Example: Alibaba group invested in MI: Fallout and Rogue Nation. And movies like “once upon a time in
Hollywood” produced by Chinese , not even screened in china.

• But, Most importantly even though they concentrate on Hollywood, they lack the same in their own industry,
as government have increased the tax to film production company and its revenue, more and more Chinese
production companies are moving to Hollywood.
• China is expected to produce a box office cap of 15.5B USD IN 2023, and chances are most of the films hosted
by Hollywood will be of Chinese producers, actors as even the audience by then.

• The only advantage US has in space field is that, they have the support of companies like SpaceX , If China
found a way to compete with SpaceX then, it will be a face down for US in space exploration as well.

• Biden says US, and Canada to work towards achieving net zero emission by 2050 but only 328k
EV’s have sold in US and 47K in Canada, but in China its 1.33M EV’s.
• Seeing this General Motors has declared a mission to exclusively give EV’s from 2035, which is
a long way to go as it sold only 49100 EV’s on the year 2020.

• China is betting big on electric vehicles, because they cant be the giants in the traditional motor industry, but
EV can be one sector where Chinese infrastructure would help them be, and this will also help them in
reducing the fuel imports from other countries and pollution level reduction in China

• Even the policies given by the government are in favour of the electric Vehicles, if you want to get a number
plate registered traditional vehicles have to pay 12K USD additional when compared to EV’s.

• The government even encourages foreign companies to come and manufacture EV’s within their countries, but
with a catch, they have to do a collaboration with internal manufacturers, except for Tesla as they consider the
value of Tesla as a promotion to convert everyone to electric vehicles.
