DEFINITION

Biographical research is a qualitative research approach aligned to


the social interpretive paradigm of research. The biographical
research is concerned with the reconstruction of life histories and
the constitution of meaning based on biographical narratives and
documents, usually conducted by an in-depth, unstructured
interview.
PURPOSE
Biographical methods aim to generateaccounts or data which,
either by means ofdirect questioning, or through the nature of
individuals own responses, have an obviousor implicit
structure.

The materials used in this biographical method are documents


(including personal letters), interviews, not only with the
person concerned, but also with those around him and others.
