contest election and hold power in
government. The party agrees on some
proposed and programs with a view in
promoting the collective good or furthering
their supporters interest.

• Also called as GOP or Grand Old Party.
• Founded by anti-slavery activists and economic
modernizers.
• Today’s GOP is generally socially conservative,
and favors smaller government, less regulation,
lower taxes and less federal intervention in
economy

• Is the oldest political party in the United States.
• Democrats are sometime referred as “The Party of the
People” attracting immigrants, blue-collar workers,
women, and minorities.
• They tend to take a more liberal stand on important
issues. They believe that the federal government
should take a more active role in people’s lives,
particularly those who are in need.
