HISTORY OF FARM
1. This is very old historical farm.
2. This farm established by His Hines of
Junagadh Navab Haheb before 108 years.
3. The old name was “Saurashtra
Kathiyawadi Horse Paddock, Junagadh”
4. This farm is under state Dept. of A.H.
since 1960.
AIMS OF FARM
To breed and increase the nos. of Kathiawadi horses.
To preserve Kathiawadi horse breed, that is declared as
“Threatened breed of equine” by GOI
To provide natural services to mares of private owners on
nominal fees of Rs.400/-
To rear and supply breeding stallions at various sub centers of
state.
To train field veterinarians for “Equine Management Training
“ for refreshment of knowledge.
To train Veterinary college internees student for practical
knowledge of horses.
To provide technical information to private horse owners,
visitors and students of various colleges, viz. B.R.S; B.Sc.
(zoology). etc.
INFRASTRUCTURE OF LAND AND BUILDINGS:

25 Acres Total land for grazing of animals


41 Horse Stables in 4 divisions.
1 Office building with 3 Rooms
2 wells and allied structure for water Supply.
2 Grass Storage godowns for 60 tones capacity
to store dry fodder

11 stallions are at sub centers of various state

CENTRAL GOVT.:
GOI has declared Kathiawari horse breed as a
“Threatened breed of equine”.
To preserve and to maintain this breed GOI
has financed to Horse breeding farm, Juagadh/
Inaj for various components to preserve this
breed and development of infrastructure at
both farms.

Features for strengthening and
development of Farm

1. Renovation of Compound wall is primary requirement for pasture


land. ( That was damaged due to heavy rain fall-2007)
2. Expansion of nos. of 41 horse stables to 55 horse stables with
Isolation, foaling pen and dispensary rooms. (To make average
strength of 50 horses on farm.)
3. Strengthening of Horse Disease Diagnosis laboratory with staff and
advanced diagnosis instruments/infrastructure. ( Civil Work is
Completed for Laboratory in 2009)
4. “Equine Management Training Institute” is to be established to
refresh/strengthen knowledge of field Veterinarians/veterinary
college Interneese/ Horse breeders/Horse riders of Home Dept. with
all infrastructures including training building, accommodation
facilities and staff set up.

5. Reconstruction/ Renovation of all Staff
residential quarters is also a need of farm to
provide residential facilities to staff.
6. Office building, roads, street lights, water
troughs and its allied infrastructures are
necessary for farm development.
7. Horse Exercise Unit, Weighing balance Unit
are also
basic requirement of farm.
