Introduction

• London Bridge railway is one of the oldest stations in the world which
is built in the 1830s.
• The first “London Bridge” that was built by the Romans in 43 A.D.
• Located south-east of London Bridge on the River Thames, near
Tooley Street in London.
• This London Bridge was the last project of engineer John Rennie and it
was completed by his son, John Rennie the Younger.
Why the London Bridge Redevelopment
• Because to increase the passenger capacity and rail capacity at the
station.
• To create the new street-level entrances at Tooley Street and Stainer
Street.
• To make some improvement the connection between the areas
surrounding the station

• More accessible which is has been designed to be more inclusive and
accessible for all users.
 Very useful for people who with special mobility, cognitive, visual and hearing
requirement
• One of the bigger platforms for longer trains.
 Station is more spacious compare to the old station. Every platform now also
has a striking full-length canopy, the first station in the UK to have every
platform covered for their whole length
Conclusion
• The London Bridge start to redevelop in year 2013.
• But in April 2011, the Network Rail already make a preparation planning for
the station’s redevelopment.
• The project in the initial begin with the construction of a new street-level
concourse by removing the railway arches
• In the second phase of construction, all the railway tracks running through the
station will be realigned and three more through platforms will be developed
• At the third phase of redevelopment project, the station undulating the
canopies above the new platforms which will be completed.
• In 2018, the station and all the platform can be fully operational.
