1. Roller Press can also be called as a Grinding
plant.
2. High pressure roller press has been employed
for grinding materials for many years now.
3. In the most recent generation of such grinding
plants the high pressure roller press operates
in closed circuits with a Hammer Mill .

Hydraulic Pump Spacer Frame

 The purpose of the spacer frame is to hold the
spacer plate .

 Why the spacer frame is needed to hold the spacer

plate is because to adjust the Rotor Gap .

 The new rotor gap after rebuilding or the new

rotor must be about 18 mm in size.

 And the spacer plate will be around 35 mm in size.

 After the rotor is warn out or wear , the size of the rotor gap
will increase to about 22 mm .

 Why does the size of the rotor gap increases from 18 mm to

22 mm .

 This is because the the two rotors are crushing againts each
other .

 This action (crushing of the two rotors) will repeat till the
size of the spacer plate will decrease rapidly till at
approximately 19 mm.

 Once the spacer plate comes to a certain limit, which is 18

mm or 19 mm, this is the time to rebuild.

STAGE 1
Limestone is carried by the 222.08 conveyor. There are various sizes of
Limestone coming from it , such as 20 mm, 25 mm and etc .

STAGE 2
This Limestone’s are then dropped to the Hopper .

STAGE 3
The rotor gap is only 18 mm , but some of the limestone’s are bigger
In size then the rotor gap. When the limestone’s flow to the rotor gap,
What happens is the movable rotor and the stationary rotor will move
In opposite direction.
STAGE 4
Then, the Hydraulic Pump will pump the moveable rotor. And
The Hydraulic Cylinder helps the moveable rotor to press the
material’s vigorously .

STAGE 5
When the material’s are pressed with a pressure of 80 – 100 BAR , the
Limestone’s crushes/grinds against the wall of the rotor .

STAGE 6
This is how the Grinding process happens .
STAGE 7

This Grinding process helps the sizes of the limestone’s to decrease

And to flow down the rotor gap as a so called ‘cake’.

STAGE 8

This so called ‘cake’ will then go to the 224.01 conveyor and then
Brought to the Hammer Mill .
Spacer REASON – because when the
Plate moveable rotor is
pressing the spacer
Spacer plate , the spacer plate
Frame would not be misplaced
from the Spacer Frame.

Allen
Screw Note – Allen Screw was used to Bolt the
Spacer Plate with the Spacer Frame
Square
Bar
1. A square bar is weld with 50 mm mild steel plate .

2. When the moveable rotor is pressing the spacer

plate , the weld square bar will get weaken and
results in , the square bar will fall after some
period of time eventually .

3. From this we can conclude that by welding the

square bar with the mild steel plate, it dosen’t last
long.
4. So to avoid this breakdown time and time
again, we should bolt the square bar with the
mild steel plate.

5. We can also bolt and weld the square bar with

the mild steel plate for longer lasting purposes.
The weld breaks
In this area
Because on this
Side it has the
Moveable rotor, At this point the weld
And when the doesn’t break because
Moveable rotor on this side , it has the
Presses the stationary rotor ,
Spacer plate which doesn’t press
Vigorously the spacer plate.
The weld gets
Weaken and it
Eventually
Breaks down .
 Welding always crack.
 Stoppage of Roller Press.
 Lost running hours.
 Lost amount of production (per hour 80-100
tan)
 Waste of man power.
 Waste of equipment.
 Lost hour production will be around 6 to 8
hours.
 Last longer period of time.
 Double protection because of weld and bolt.
 If the welding cracks, the square bar will not
fall because it still has been bolt with the Allen
Screw.
 Less loss running hours.
 Less loss amount of production.
From this we can conclude that :-

1) When the Spacer Frame and the Spacer Plate is bolt

with the Allen Screw , with this we can save more
amount of production .
2) Moreover , we will also have the double protection
when we bolt and weld . This will ensure us less
stoppages if anything goes wrong .
3) During the stoppage of Roller Press , it will at least take
about 6 to 8 hours of running hours. So in this kind of
circumstances we can avoid the loss of running hours .
