Clara Barton
Clara Barton always did her best to help people. She got
medical supplies from the army doctors during the Civil War.
She nursed soldiers on the battlefield, no matter which side
they were on. She spent hours looking for missing and hurt
men.

After the war was over, she started the American National
Red Cross. This is a group that helps people during floods,
fires, and other disasters. Because of her efforts, the Red
Cross has helped thousands of people during times of need.
