POLLUTIONS
CONTENT
• Air pollution
• Water pollution
• Noise pollution
• Land pollution
• Preventions & conclusion
INTRODUCTION
There are several types of pollution, and while they may come from different
sources and have different consequences, understanding the basics about
pollution can help environmentally conscious individuals minimize their
contribution to these dangers.

Four Types of pollution are categorized :

air pollution,
noise pollution
land pollution
water pollution
AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution occurs when the air contains pollutants such as:
 Gases
 Fumes
 Dust
AIR POLLUTION
• What are the main causes of Air
Pollution?
• Burning of Fossil fuels
• Agriculture activities
• Vehicle fumes
• Mining operation etc.....
SOLUTION TO AIR POLLUTION
• Conserve energy
• Use public mode of transportation
• Understand the concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
• Use energy efficient devices
WATER POLLUTION

“Water Pollution” is the contamination of the water bodies

Eg: lakes, rivers, oceans, etc.....

WATER POLLUTION PROBLEMS
• water pollution is the major global problem.
• An estimated 580 people died in India because of water problem.
• About 90%of water in cities of China is polluted.
NOISE POLLUTION

“Noise Pollution” is mainly caused by transportation systems, machines,

motor vehicles, air crafts etc......
NOISE POLLUTION EFFECTS
• Outdoor sound is summarised by the world environmental
sounds
• Noise pollutions affects both health &
behaviour
unwanted noise can damage physical health.
NOISE POLLUTION REDUCTION
• Noise mitigation: Road way noise can be reduced by using the
noise barriers limitation of vehicle speed, use of traffic control,
acceleration & tyre design
LAND POLLUTION

Land pollution is caused by deforestation, agricultural activities, mining

activities, overcrowded landfills, industrialization, nuclear wastes and
sewage treatment. To cut back on land pollution, many steps should be
taken. Individuals must recycle, reduce the use of pesticides and other
harmful chemicals
LAND POLLUTION

Land pollution is caused by deforestation, agricultural activities, mining

activities, overcrowded landfills, industrialization, nuclear wastes and sewage
treatment. To cut back on land pollution, many steps should be taken.
Individuals must recycle, reduce the use of pesticides and other harmful
chemicals, avoid purchasing products that are packaged in excessive packing
materials
PREVENTIONS
• Don’t use pesticides if you can.
• Use a drip tray to collect engine oil.
• Buy products that have little packaging.
• Don’t dump motor oil on the ground.
POLLUTION PREVENTIONS

 increasing efficiency in energy use,

 use of environmentally benign fuel sources.
PREVENTIONS
• In the agricultural sector, pollution prevention approaches
include:
• Reducing the use of water and chemical inputs;
• Adoption of less environmentally harmful pesticides or
cultivation of crop strains with natural resistance to pests; and
• Protection of sensitive areas.
PREVENTIONS
• Using reusable water bottles instead of throw-aways
• Automatically turning off lights when not in use
• Repairing leaky faucets and hoses
• Switching to "green" cleaners
