INTRODUCTION
A Digital Twin serves as a bridge between the
physical and digital world, bringing data into both.

Digital Twin can be shortly described in 5 phases as

shown in Figure 1.

1. Creating a virtual model

2. Analysis and visualization data on the model
3. Working with the model
4. Testing the model
5. Learning and implementing the model

IIOT VS. DIGITAL TWIN
• IIOT stands for Industrial Internet of Things.

• IIOT helps in monitoring the lighting, energy consumption, fire protection and others.

• Digital Twin helps in data analysis and provides a platform to check their performance before applying
to the physical world, thereby giving a solution to the problem.

• IIOT is a combination of industrial things, cloud platforms, connectivity, data, analytics dashboard.

• Digital Twin needs the data of an object to create a virtual model.

ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL TWIN OVER IOT

 Data Breach

 Lack of Robustness

 Time-consuming and expensive

 Usage-Based Requirements

 Quality Checking and Verification

 Remote Access and Service

CHALLENGES IN DIGITAL TWIN
1. Affordable Infrastructure: The developers may get carried away with building a more
accurate and high-performing model without considering what it would cost when constructed
physically.
2. Unstructured data: The data available are stored in various locations, they are not linked to a
single database. Hence, it is not easy to integrate the live data into a single module.
3. Connectivity: Any compromise in the connectivity could result in loss of data, or unstructured
data might be delivered due to the exact cause, resulting in an unstable model.
4. Privacy and security: As data accumulation is a behavior of the Digital Twin, the values of the
organization must be protected at all costs.
