Wind Projects in Pakistan

• GOP decided to introduce renewable energy share in the


overall power mix of the country
• In 2003 Alternative Energy Development Board was
formed to facilitate wind, solar & micro hydel projects
• The Renewable Energy Policy unveiled in December
2006; incentives are mentioned therein
• AEDB issued 97 LOIs so far for wind projects
• 23 investors have been allotted land, 12 in Gharo and 11
in Jhimpir area

Wind Resources in Baluchistan

List of 23 stations: Aghore, Basol, Bella, Gaddani, Gawadar, Hoshab,


Hub-Choki, Jiwani, Liari, Makola, Managi, Mand, Nasirabad, Nelunt,
Ormara, Othal, Pasni, Phore, Pishukan, Ramra, Tump, Turbat, Winder.3

• The project area for the wind mapping was 1,100km along
Sindh and Balochistan coast and up to 100km deep
northward over land from the coast.

• 44 stations for collecting wind data have been installed to


study the wind regime as shown in fore coming figures.
