Query to FEA Consultant

1. Create 3D model of vessel and defects

2. Share model with client and complete screen-share model review to confirm accuracy

3. Create finite element mesh, input boundary and loading conditions

4. Complete FEA analysis and report results against ASME VIII criteria
a. Capability to check code compliance for Protection Against Plastic Collapse using:
i. Elastic Stress Analysis Method, or
ii. Limit Load Method, or
iii. Elastic-Plastic Stress Analysis Method
b. Capability to check code compliance for Protection Against Local Failure
i. Elastic Analysis Method, or
ii. Elastic-Plastic Stress Analysis Method

5. If analysis shows defect is not code compliant, work with client to understand reasons for this and make recommendations to avoid high stresses. This may include
considerations for model inputs and changes to model geometry which require re-runs of the original analysis.

6. Client to be involved in selection of locations for Stress Classification Lines for reporting as well as model screenshots.

7. All 3D models and FEA models are to be provided to client

8. Preferred software package is ANSYS

Example job
• Please provide price estimate for completing following analysis
• Draw 3D Model
• Run FEA
• Report Results

• What is price for changes/ updates and re-run of analysis:

• Change to geometry – wall thickness
• Change to load case
