Matthew’s account of “The woman with
the issue of the blood”
 Matthew 9: 20-22
 20. And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve
years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
 21. For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
 22. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of
good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole
from that hour.
Mark’s account of “The woman with the
issue of the blood”
 Mark 5:25-34
25. And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26. And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but
rather grew worse,
27. When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said,
Who touched my clothes?
31. And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32. And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him
all the truth.
34. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Luke’s account of “The woman with the
issue of the blood”
 Luke 8:43-48
 43. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon
physicians, neither could be healed of any,
 44. Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of
blood stanched.
 45. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said,
Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
 46. And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
 47. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down
before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him,
and how she was healed immediately.
 48. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in
peace.
“My idea” of the Point of View of the
woman ~ A Poem
For twelve years I have been alone. For twelve years I have suffered, deemed unclean
with no one to talk to, no one to relate to. My family?? They loved me from a
distance. I was tired of the hurt, worn out by the pain. Twelve years I have suffered a
great deal from many doctors twelve years I had spent everything I have to pay them,
but gotten no better. In fact I have gotten worse. I was desperate to be healed. Many
persons thought there was no cure for my disease until O until I heard about the Great
physician. The great healer, Jesus of Nazareth. You know as a special man he has a
large crowd following him. Many persons wanted to be healed from some ailment. I
had faith, that was the only thing I had left now, my faith, I reached for the hem of is
garment and he turned and looked at me. The most peaceful voice said to me,
“Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.” After
twelve years the touch of one’s man garment had made me whole, but not just any
man, Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Conclusion

 Jesus didn’t have to acknowledge the woman. Her faith to touch the hem of his garment was
enough to heal her.
 Matthew, Mark and Luke gave their own account on how this miracle happened but the important
is the woman was healed
 According to the law (Leviticus 15:25-27), excessive blood flow made a woman ceremonially
unclean. Any furniture she touched was unclean as well. If other people touched anything that she
had touched, they would be unclean as well.
 It was also said in the Bible that there was no doctor that could heal her, that goes on to show that
with God all things are possible
 She was considered incurable. When she heard people speak of the power of Christ, she believed
and began to hope again for a cure. If she could just get to him. She had been in hiding so long
that she felt she couldn’t just go up to him and talk to him. She was embarrassed and needed as
private a cure as she could get. Instantly the blood stopped as soon as she touched Jesus, and she
felt perfectly well
Leviticus 15:25-27

 25 “ ‘When a woman has a discharge of blood for many days at a time other than
her monthly period or has a discharge that continues beyond her period, she will
be unclean as long as she has the discharge, just as in the days of her period.
 26 Any bed she lies on while her discharge continues will be unclean, as is her
bed during her monthly period, and anything she sits on will be unclean, as during
her period.
 27 Anyone who touches them will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and
bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening.
