REVIEW ABOUT FACTORIAL
⬡ is the product of all positive integers less than or equal to the
number preceding the factorial sign.

⬡  The factorial function (symbol: !) says to multiply all whole


numbers from our chosen number down to 1
Examples:

1! = 1
2!= 2 × 1= 2
3!= 3 × 2 × 1= 6
4 = 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 24
5!= 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 120
Remember 0! = 1
6!= 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 720
WHAT IS PERMUTATION?
• A permutation is a mathematical technique that determines the number
of possible arrangements in a set when the order of the arrangements
matters.

"The combination to the safe is


472". We do care about the order.
"724" won't work, nor will "247". It
has to be exactly 4-7-2.

So, we should really call this a
