ARTS:DIGITAL LAY
OUTING
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the module, you are expected
to:
• Identify the different principles of lay outing.
• Create a simple layout design using simple
applications available.
Digital lay outing is a process of placing all the required elements of a given
subject in a digital format rather than making the layout using a non-digital
platform like pen and paper. In this process, the objects and elements to be laid
out can easily be adjusted, resized, replaced, or recolored to fit into the desired
layout outcome
Digital lay outing can be used in many different forms
such as websites, print advertisements, book covers,
posters, tarpaulins, magazines, and many more
PRINCIPLES OF DIGITAL OF
DIGITAL LAY OUTING
1. Proximity - proximity is the distance between objects that
are related to each other. It is done to show relevance by
bringing the related objects closer together

2. Alignment - this technique is used to improve the aesthetic appearance of

the design as well as the readability of its components, meaning the concept
and designs can easily be recognized and understood by the people.
Arranging the elements in such a way that the message of the design can
easily be understood, thus creating a balance between the objects of your
concept.
3. Repetition - is a technique that can be identified by the term
itself. Repeating patterns and other elements in a design can
stress out the idea of the concept

4. Contrast - this is to emphasize the difference between

the elements or objects in a design. It is also used to add
distinctiveness to an individual element
IMPORTANCE OF DIGITAL OF
DIGITAL LAY OUTING
A well-designed layout makes the information it contains easy to
consume. It's a fundamental part of any piece of visual
communication.
