CARAGA

REGION
Region XIII
The CARAGA Region was created through
Republic Act Number 7901 on February 23, 1995.
The region is composed of five provinces.
Majority of the inhabitants of the region are of
Visayan lineage. 

The ethnic residents include the:


• Manobo
• Mamanwa
• Other tribes

Its proximity to other growth areas such as the
Cagayan - Iligan corridor and the Davao Gulf
Economic Zone is an advantage.

Geographical location

land area - 18,847 sq. kms.

North - Butuan Bay and Surigao


East - Philippine Sea.
South - the Davao provinces and Misamis Oriental
West – Bukidnon Province
Agusan del Norte

Capital:
Agusan del Norte is divided into 10 municipalities.
The highly-urbanized city of Butuan, being
geographically located in Agusan del Norte, is
traditionally grouped with the province, although it is
governed independently from it.
Tourist Attractions

Cabadbaran Museum: This is a mini-museum located at


the ground floor of Teofisto Guingona Sr. Hall. It is a
repository to the town’s old documents, as well as artifacts
from Cabadbaran’s 4 archeological sites.
Cabadbaran Ancestral Houses: Cabadbaran’s Ancestral
houses are predominantly old Spanish architecture. The most
prominent of them is the Atega Ancestral Home, the biggest
and most beautifully preserved in Caraga. It is the abode of
Cabadbaran’s revolutionary hero – Don Andres Atega.
Magellan Marker : Erected in the time of Spanish District
Gov. Jose Maria Carvallo in     1872, this edifce located at
the mouth of Agusan river  in present day Magallanes, is the
site of the first catholic mass in Mindanao  on April 8,1521.
Magallanes, in the olden days was called Baug, formerly the
site of Butuan.
AGUSAN DEL SUR

Agusan del Sur known also as “Land of Golden


Opportunities” is one of the Philippine’s largest
provinces – the 4th largest province in the country

and the largest province in Caraga Region. 
Tourist Attractions

Gibong River – It is an opening to the Binaba Falls that also


provide as the water irrigation to several rice fields. River
banks are rich of untouched vegetation as you make the
journey the flowing river.
The discovery of ‘Lolong’, the largest crocodile in the world which was
officially announced by a team of crocodile expert from National
Geographic Channel in the town of Bunawan became the hotspot tourist
destinations. Lolong was discovered on September 3, 2011 in Agusan
Marsh on the part of Bunawan town forcing town mayor to build
Bunawan Eco-Park and Research Center to accommodate increasing
visiting local and international tourists.
Dinagat Island
Capital: San Jose

There’s more to Dinagat than the infamous religious


sect and the mansion of the Ecleos, the reigning
political dynasty in the island province.  As one of
the locals claimed, “Dinagat is so rich that its mineral
deposits could pay the entire debt of the Philippines.”

BABABU LAKE

The Philippines’ cleanest lake "BABABU LAKE" is a


magnificent lake lying in the heart of  the rock formation
along Bababu. The fresh water taste so sweet and it's
coldness really surprised you when you get there.
Surigao del Norte
Capital: Surigao City

The province is blessed with long stretches of white sand


beaches, enchanting rock formations, mysterious caves, and
vast mangrove forests. The strong waves in Siargao Island
has made the province “The Surfing Capital of the
Philippines.” 
Lake Mainit
This pear shaped lake is the fourth largest in the country
with 17,340 hectares of clear freshwater. Its shore is home
to the Municipalities of Mainit and Alegria while the rest of
the border covers that of neigh boring Municipalities of
San Roque and Jabonga, Agusan del Norte.
Lumondo Waterfalls and Eco-Park
This natural park nestled at Brgy. Budlingin, Municipality
of Alegria is just 2 kilometers from the Poblacion. One will
be awed by the huge volume of water cascading into a 45
meter granite precipice a majestic panorama which can be
viewed from a misty mountain trail.
Capital: Tandag
Surigao del Sur
Surigao del Sur is naturally advantaged. It is one of the
few provinces that have the largest forest covers with
2111,067 has. The forest land is predominantly covered
with dipterocarp type of forest while some areas are
covered with mossy and mangroves types. Commercial
woods species are Narra, red and white Lauan, Mayapis,
Almon, Apitong, Yakal, Bagtikan, and Tanguile. Rattan
and Bonbon also abound.
Tourist Attractions
The mere mention of Siargao Island connotes images of
surfing.  Indeed this surfing mecca in Mindanao is hailed as
one of the best in the country. Aussie and European surfers
find their way here.
Britania Group of Islands is found at Baragay
Salvacion San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. it composes
of 13 beautiful island, 5 among those has shoreline to
be landed plus 1 private owned resort.

Palagsing
is a thin dark brown suman like food.Usually wrapped with
banana leaf, Butuanon’s called this as Bod-bod. It’s like suman
(rice dessert), but the difference is, it is made of coconut meat,
coconut milk, sugar with proper water measurement. 
Balanghoy
Putong Balanghoy is a steamed cassava cake with coconut
custard topping. Soft and textured composed of brown
sugar, coconut grated, cassava,water, condensed milk,
pinipig toasted and a cup of desiccated coconut.

development of Intramuros, the
walled city of Manila.
National Parks
Development Committee
(NPDC)
- has the primary purpose of
developing and maintaining assigned
parks specifically the Rizal Park or
Luneta, Paco Park, Pook ni Maria
Makiling and Burnham Park.
