What is Conflict

A disagreement that divides two or more


Parties
Tension that people feel in a relationship when
they perceive that they have differing goals or
feelings

Put your foot down where you mean to stand

 Form two groups in a parallel lines (A &B )
 Group A will share “what is conflict” with group B
 Than on 2nd step Group B will share “merits and
demerits of Conflict “with Group A

Theories of Conflict
 Traditional theory
· conflicts are caused by trouble-makers
· conflicts are bad
· conflicts should be avoided or suppressed
 Contemporary theory
· conflicts are inevitable between human beings
· conflicts are often beneficial
· conflicts are the natural result of change
· conflicts can and should be managed

Social Conflict Theory

1. Dominate 

You use your power to get your way.  Power can be physical or in words.

2. placate

You try to please me.

3. compromise

We both give up something and meet in the middle. 

4. collaborate 

Both of us work toward a solution where both of us get what we want. 

5. withdraw

You avoid the conflict or back out when you see there's a conflict. 

You might even say there's not conflict.
