Talalla beach
 The south coast of Sri Lanka is popular for its beautiful beaches and
shorelines. One such beautiful beach is the Talalla Beach. Though Talalla
Beach in Sri Lanka, is not so much frequented by people, but it is still
stunningly beautiful and the quiet environment adds to the serene charm of the
place. Surrounded by luscious green vegetation and palm groves, this spit of
golden sand is a perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing time.
 Talalla surf is based at talalla beach. But it is not popular among the tourists.
The sandy bottom of the bay, makes it an ideal surfing spot for beginners and
intermediate level surfers. But if you are an advanced surfer, you can still enjoy surfing,
as towards the end of the bay on both sides, there are some rocks and reef and the waves
here are kind of powerful.
Location
 Encompassed by the coconut palms, Talalla beach is a white sand beach located in the south
coast of Sri Lanka and has a distance about 190km from Colombo. This is located close to
Galle city.
How to get to Talalla Beach:
By Fort Station to Matara every 4 hours. Tickets cost
train- Rs. 130 - Rs. 500 and the journey takes 2h 30m.
By bus- from Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus Terminal to
Matara Bus Station every 20 minutes. Tickets cost Rs.
180 - Rs. 240 and the journey takes 2h 35m.

From Matara bus stand, can take Matara to Dickwella


bus Route no:346/1 or Matara to Tangalle bus Route
no: 333/4 from Matara bus station.

 The surf location is situated between the village of Gandara and Kottegoda and
is quite peaceful and isolated.
History
After the tsunami, a Talalla suppor5 group was created for the sake of the local
community. With that first step, after the end of the 30 years war. A slight wave to
the development of the beach arrived along with the close attractions like tangalle
beach .then the popularity as a surfing point reached almost to its peak, before 2/3
years
Current situation
 Talalla beach still in under the developing destination. This is not much famous
among the people but its rich with natural beauty.
 In here people do main activities are swimming and surfing.
 Local surfing crowed is less compared to other places in Sri Lanka, so people
can enjoy the trio of surf, sun & sand with peace.
 The sandy bottom of the bay, makes it an ideal surfing spot for beginners and
intermediate level surfers.
 the most recommended time to visit the Talalla Beach is during the months of
January till early March. The weather at this time is ideal for all sorts of
activities.
 Although now is the season, there is noboady can seen due to the Covid 19
pandemic.
Future potential
• Talalla beach has west and south west wind in the season and can be promote for
Kite Boarding.
• Develop the infrastructure facilities without harming the nature.
• Promote this destination for surf camps.
