James Clerk Maxwell
• Scottish mathematician.

• He derived 4 equations
* Maxwell’s Equartion-I
(Ampere circuital law)
* Maxwell’s Equation-II
(faraday’s law)
* Maxwell’s Equation-III
(electric gauss law)
* Maxwell’s Equation-IV
He derived the equations in 3 different criteria.

*Normal conductors
*Free space
*Good conductors

Maxwell’s equations are also called as

Electromagnetic equations or EM equations.
Maxwell’s equation for normal conductors.

Equation-I:
Statement :
The mmf around a closed path is equal to
sum of conduction current and displacement
current enclosed by the path.
or
Magnetic voltage around a closed path is
equal to the electric current flowing through the
path.
Equation-II:
Statement:
The emf around the closed path is equal to
the magnetic displacement or flux density
through that closed path.
or
Electric voltage around a closed path is
equal to the magnetic current flowing through
that path.
Equation-III:

Statement:

The total electric displacement through

the surface enclosing a volume is equal to the
total charge within the volume.
Equation-IV:

Statement:

The net magnetic flux emerging

through any closed surface is zero.
Maxwell’s equation for free space

There is no conductivity in free space.

Maxwell’s equation for good
conductors
* Jc – ignore ,because it has very high
conductivity
So
Jc+Jd=Jc [Jc>>>Jd]
