ARTERIES
Nathanael Anthony Haposan Pasaribu 8e/27
What are arteries and it’s fuction ??
The arteries are the blood vessels , that carry blood away from the heart. Blood is
pumped from the ventricles into large elastic arteries that branch repeatedly into smaller
and smaller arteries until the branching results in microscopic arteries called arterioles
The largest artery

The largest artery is the aorta, the main high-pressure pipeline connected
to the heart's left ventricle. The aorta branches into a network of smaller
arteries that extend throughout the body.
The smallest arteries
Arterioles are the smallest arteries. Arterioles are the blood vessels in the arterial side of the
vascular tree that are located proximal to the capillaries and, in conjunction with the
terminal arteries, provide the majority of resistance to blood flow
layers of arteries
Adventitia Tunica Media
Outer layer which provides middle layer composed of elastic and
structural support and shape to the muscular tissue which regulates the
vessel internal diameter of the vessel

Tunica Intima
inner layer consisting of an endothelial lining which
provides a frictionless pathway for the movement of
blood
