DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES
Creation of a practical reference document for a specialized core of Member State authorities to enable
them to successfully tackle the problem of wildlife trafficking.
 That includes:
Share solutions related to implementation issues;
Facilitate the implementation and interpretation of available tools;
Carry out joint inspections;
Develop web applications;
Identify gaps in implementation;
Provide an overview of the approaches of different EU countries;
Facilitate cooperation between the different inspection bodies involved.
STATE POINT
At this time, we have consolidated a first edition of the guide, to be tested and
improved.
Product of:

• Weekly online meetings


• Permanent contact of members through a WhatsApp group
• Creation of a cloud for sharing work documents
• Task sharing
• Optimization of the aptitudes and skills of each one
DOCUMENT STRUCTURE

The document structure is divided into 3 large groups:

 The EU Wildlife Trade Regulations

 Objectives/Limitations 

 Available Tools (How to do)
FUTURE ACTIONS

• Document dissemination
• Updates and improvements
• Conducting workshops
• Carrying out joint inspections
• Proposal for a multi-year project for 2022
GOALS

1. Exchange of solutions regarding implementation problems;


2. Facilitate the implementation and interpretation of available tools;
3. Carrying out joint inspections;
4. Development of web applications;
5. Identify implementation gaps or loopholes;
6. Provide an overview of approaches in different European countries;
7. Facilitate cooperation between compliance chain stakeholders, also in defining
consistent solutions to implementation problems
EXPECTED RESULTS
Creation of a final version of a guidance document based on knowledge and experience for better
implementation of the EU action plan against wildlife trafficking; reducing gaps in this
implementation and developing a level playing field for member states, taking into account:

• Actual results of joint inspections


• Experience and examples of IMPEL members
• Inspection tools available
• Extent and minimum resources for inspections
• Results of technical workshops
