Why does your
GPA matter?
Importance of 3.0 GPA
Higher GPA = More Options
● College acceptances
● Academic scholarships from colleges
● Meeting eligibility requirements for scholarships and
enrichment programs
● Better outcomes in college
● Improving PSAT and SAT score outcomes

Students who enter college with a 3.0 unweighted GPA are more likely to
graduate from college
What can I do about
my GPA now?
Improving your GPA

Always a work in progress:

● It’s never too late to make improvements


● GPAs are cumulative (meaning all semesters from
freshman year until now are factored)
● You have completed 4 semesters of grades recorded on
your transcript
● You are encouraged to enroll in a College level course
such as Dual Credit/Enrollment or AP for senior year

Gates - 3.3 weighted to apply - up to full cost after financial aid

Pullman – 3.0 unweighted to apply – up to $10,000 per year
