HYDROELECTRIC

POWER LIGHT
BULB
RATIONALE
• Hydroelectricity is one of the most environmental
friendly sources of electricity. It is a type of
energy that uses the power of water in motion.

• Hydroelectricity power is a local wellspring of

power, enabling each state to create their own
power without being dependent on global
electrical power sources.

• Hydroelectricity exist as one option to most of

the growing demand for energy and is discussed
in this study numerous consideration factors
exist regarding hydropower,
QUESTION
Can Hydroelectricity
be used as a power
source inside
households?
PROBLEM

To determine if the power

produced by the hydro
powered motor affect the
brightness of the light bulb.
HYPOTHESIS
If the power produced by
the hydro powered motor
increases, the brightness
of the bulb will also
increase.
Research Methodology
Research Design

• The researchers will start the experiment by testing 6V to

12 V DC motor to be used in the initial trials. With the use
of a millimeter, the researchers measured each type of DC
motor voltage to determine which is more appropriate to
use in the experiment .

• This research project will require the researchers

experience with electrical operations to prevent rash
decisions and furthermore, to ensure the safety of the
project process.
Materials to be
used
• Plywood (40x20 cm),
• 4 sheets laminate paper
• 1 pc 12v DC motor (can be
substituted by 9V or 6V DC motor) 2
circular disk ( any material except
paper),
• 1meter duplex wire, light bulb socket,
• light bulb (5watts), 15 cm small pvc
pipe,
• glue gun
• glue stick.
Experimental Design
->Prepare the plywood to be used as
a base. Cover the top part of the
plywood with 1 layer sheet of laminate
paper.

->After covering the plywood, attach

the 15 cm pipe to the center edge to
the right about 10 cm from the edge
->Use a glue gun to attach the dc motor to the
top of the pipe.

->At the other end of the plywood, attach the

bulb socket about 5cmm from the center edge.
Connect the duplex wires from the DC motor to
the light bulb socket.
->To make the wheel that will be used to turn the dc motor, 2
circular disks will be used. Cut rectangular pieces from the left
over laminate paper, about 50 cm by 15 cm/10 cm cut at least 20
pieces then paste it sideways at the side of the disk attach the
other disk on top of the other disk.

->Attach the wheel to the tip of the DC motor. Make sure it is

fastened tightly and security.

->Insert the light bulb to the socket and then look for some
running water to test it out.
Power=Volts x Amps

The voltage of the DC Motor used is 9V. The

Amps was measured using a multimeter and
displayed a result of about 2.5 Amps with the
use of batteries. Using the formula,

Power=9V x 2.5 A
Power=22.5 watts
Discussion of Results and
Conclusion

The researchers concluded that the

power produced by the hydro powered
motor can really affect the brightness
of the light bulb.
