BACKGROUND

Settlement is located on New Sanganer road which a 80 ft. wide


prominent road. It is surrounded by residential units, institutional
buildings and commercial buildings.
The settlement includes temporary and permanent houses with
people living there since 30 years. These are the people who
migrated years back from their villages and town in search of
jobs and settled there which was then a agricultural land.
Majority of people living there do not have ownership of land
and are living there by kabza and do not have any patta or
documents with one room and 5-10 members living in one area.

1. Initially, they were in the least desirable lands near the town or city, that are state owned or trust/entity owned or have no clear land
title.
2. Undocumented ownership with no legal title to the land also prevents slum settlers from applying for mortgage, which worsen their
financial situations.
3. the construction quality is inadequate to withstand heavy rains, high winds, or other local climate and location. Paper, plastic, earthen
floors, mud-and-wattle walls, straw or torn metal pieces as roofs are some of the materials of construction.
4. Most of the dwellings are single room units, with high occupancy rates.. Five and more persons share a one-room unit.

streets of settlement .
