Most Urgent Health-Related Concerns

Causes: lung disease, cancer, eye disease, and problem in immune system.

Effects: second-hand smoker, environmental pollution, water pollution, and soil.


Smoking
Preventive Measures: spend time with non smoke friend and family, exercise, distract yourself by
doing household chores.

Causes: brain damage and brain related conditions such as stroke and dementia. Heart issues such
as high blood pressure, and heart damage.

Drinking Alcohol Effects: acceptance of alcohol use by society, advertising and marketing both nationally and locally,
and public policies regarding alcohol and enforcement of those policies.

Preventive Measures: don’t keep alcohol at home, know your drinking limits, surround yourself with
non-drinkers, and know the consequences of excessive alchol ue.

Causes: early adverse life experience, such as trauma or histiory of abue (child abuse, sexual assault, etc.)

Mental Health
Effects: mental health conditions like hoarding can result in environmental problems.

Preventive Measures: talk about your feelings, practice mindfulness, keep in touch, and stay active.

Main Thesis: Mental Health During the Pandemic

I. Nowadays, it’s ubiquitous to see or hear news about individuals performing self-multilation, attempting suicide/ending one’s existence; the
culprit is depression.

II. People tend to use the word depression as if depression is just another term for sadness, but there’s more to it than it has something to
do with chemical imbalances/neurotransmitters in the brain.

III. People suffer from depression, especially during the pandemic the inability of the individual to cope up with the sudden and unexpected
changes in the norm, people got laid off their jobs, lack of job opportunities, were isolated for long periods, tested for covid-19.
