ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN
COMPARISON TO RADIOLOGICAL
REPORTING IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF ACUTE
BRAIN INFARCT WITH MRI
AIM

• To study feasibility to use Artificial intelligence in

detection of Acute Brain Infarct (MRI)
OBJECTIVES
• To collect retrospective and prospective images of infarcts (MRI) with
reports.

• To standardize reporting language using standard terminology from

literature.

• To use algorithms available to assess artificial intelligence in detecting

acute brain infarct as compared to radiologist reports.
SAMPLE SIZE
• z1-α/2= The Standard normal deviate

• z1-β/2= The Standard normal deviate

• C=0.5 * ln [(1+r)/ (1-r)]

• Correlation Coefficient = r

•r=0.66, c=0.5
•n=30 the minimum number samples required for the study which is sufficient for AI study.
• Total no of samples required for artificial neural network training – 1000.

• Normal image – 500;infarct image – 500.

• Method of collection :

• Image shows feature suggestive of acute stroke, then section which shows
exact location of lesion will be extracted and reports have been made using
a standardised terminology.
• Method of collection :

• MRI Image which shows exact location of lesion will be extracted

• Reports have been made using a standardised terminology.

• Excel sheet data is created – image number, image sequence, findings on

each sequence, labels and classes.
