Gerunds : introduction
A gerund is the – ing form of a verb used as a
noun. A gerund is used in the same ways as a
noun, as a subject or as an object.
Example :
Playing tennis is fun.
We enjoy playing tennis.
He’s excited about playing tennis.
Using gerunds as the objects
of prepositions
A gerund is frequently used as object of
preposition.
We talked about going to Canada for our
vacation.
To is a preposition, not part of an infinitives
form, so a gerund follows.
I’m used to sleeping with the window open.
