Philosophy of Religion is rational thought about religious

issues and concerns without a presumption of the
existence of a deity or reliance on acts of faith. Philosophers
examine the nature of religion and religious beliefs.

West Philosopher’s Philosophy of Religion

Philosophers in the West have focused on ideas related to the

existence and nature of the deity because that idea is central to the
religions of the West.  Western Philosophy of Religion has
centered on arguments or proofs for the existence of god and
explications of apparent inconsistencies in the description of the
nature of god.

Philosophy and Religion are related as theory and Practice.

Philosophy renders Religion more intelligible by explaining it.
Religion provides religious data to Philosophy. Religion can
complete the philosophical explanation of life.

Our capacity to form beliefs for good reasons, on
the basis of evidence: Empirical or Rational.

Faith:
A set of beliefs at least some of which are not
supported by evidence; faith goes beyond
available evidence. Faith is a gift of God-
supernatural.
Example: Our belief Allah is one.

Philosophy starts with an individual's opinion or theory and in

fact ideal is included in the western philosophical tradition.
Therefore philosophy came before religion. In theory,
religious prophets started as philosophers, delusional
philosophers, and then as leaders followed by faithful
believers thereafter.

 In religion, and even in religious philosophy, reasoned arguments are ultimately

traced back to some basic faith in God, gods, or religious principles which have
been discovered in some revelation. A separation between the sacred and the
profane is something else lacking in philosophy.
