Case Summary
General Electric and GE Fanuc a joint venture company which
especially produces factory automation and control products. Recently,
the company has gone through a series of changes in its HR
department. Particularly, the company restructured and decentralized
its HR units in different functional areas of production. In
consequence, the company successfully transformed its HR activities
from its supportive orientation to a more strategic one by flattening
the management levels and also investing more in development of
workforce. Although, such a transition had an effect on managers and
supervisors in their future career growth but they were offered bundles
of benefits and incentives to carry on their services with the company.
Eventually, the company achieved its desired return on investment and
also achieved a lower rate of employee turnover in different areas.
