INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION

Internet of Things (IoT)

1. INTERNET
2. THINGs

• In the IOT, all the things that are being connected to the internet can be put into three categories:

1. Things that collect information and then send it. Ex: temperature sensor, moisture etc..

2. Things that receive information and then act on it. Ex: wireless printer

3. Things that do both. Ex: smart irrigation system

INTRODUCTION

The Internet of Things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects—“things”—that are embedded with sensors,
software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over
the internet.
• These devices range from ordinary household objects to sophisticated industrial tools.
• With more than 7 billion connected IoT devices today, experts are expecting this number to grow to 10 billion by 2020 and 22 billion by
2025.

INTRODUCTION

Four main components used in IoT:

1. Low-power embedded systems
2. Cloud computing
3. Availability of big data
4. Networking connection

INTRODUCTION

Communication devices in IoT:

• Sensors: • The temperature sensor detects the low temperature.
• Actuators: exchange of data
• microprocessor platforms such as Raspberry-Pi, Arduino boards.
• RFID Tags:
• Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.

• Then it notifies the user and the motion sensor connected to the tap which turns on
