Arithmetic Means

In an arithmetic sequence, the

terms between two terms are
called arithmetic means.
Example

a)Find the arithmetic mean of 6 and 18.

6 + 18 = 24
24/2 = 12
Therefore, the arithmetic mean of 6 and 18 is 12
b)Find the arithmetic of -12 and 8.
-12, __, 8
-12 + 8 = -4
-4 / 2 = -2
Therefore, the arithmetic mean of -12 and 8 is -2
c) What is the arithmetic mean of 7 and 21

7 + 21 = 28
28 / 2 = 14
Therefore, the arithmetic mean of 7 and 21 is 14
d) What is the arithmetic mean of -14 and 28
