PROJECT TITLE:DESIGN A VEHICLE TOLL TAX COLLECTION SYSTEM AT NYERERE BRIDGE
PROJECT TYPE:DESIGN AND PROBLEM SOLVING
STUDENT’S NAME: VICENT MATHIAS
ACADEMIC YEAR: 2021/2022
ADMISSION NO:190640723531
PRESENTATION OVERVIEW

• Introduction
• Problem statement

Introduction
With the significant of development in roadways, there are increase in the number of toll
plazas(toll gate)
These toll plazas have long queues and the time consumed in paying cash and returning
change causes all the time delay, the (IOT) internet of thing based toll booth management
system in which a person can use an RFID to pay the toll charge , when the RFID is swiped,
the system would check if it has sufficient balance and then deduct the toll charge and
update the balance through IOT.
Internet of thing(IOT) is basically the network of things by which physical things can
exchange the data with the help of sensors, electronics, software and conductivity.
Problem statement
The approach of collecting toll booth charge by the driver to stop and pay the
toll charge on cash, takes a longer time for the process to complete hence with
100 estimated moving vehicle per hour, the vehicle queue on the toll booth is
increasing by time.
Main objective
To design IOT based tool booth manager system in which a person can use an
RFID card to pay the toll charge.
Specific objective…
 To Design suitable power supply unit
 Program the control unit to meet the system requirement
 To design web application for store information
 Display the output to the display unit
Methodology
• Literature Review
• Data collection
• Data Analysis
• Circuit Design and simulation
• Prototype building and testing
• Writing final Report
Literature review
Existing system
People pay cash at the toll booth when they
pass by with their cars.

Disadvantage of existing system

 Time consumed in paying cash and returning
changes
 Human error on how to return change
 It lead long queue of cars in the tool booth
Proposed system
The system will comprise of a Microcontroller unit which will provides all logic
programmed functions for reading and identifying the users RFID card, the
internet module connected to the router which will routes the information's to
the web application through internet for further storage
BLOCK DIAGRAM OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM
Proposed system
Advantages
• Save time
• the system will eliminates all the unnecessary human errors
• The proposed system is more secure and reliable
Significance of proposed system
• The proposed system is more secure and reliable
• To minimize the time consumed in a paying cash and returning the change
• the system will eliminates all the unnecessary human errors that exists in the
current existing system.
Data collection
 Primary data
data collection collected directly from the main source through interview and
questionnaire

 Secondary data
data collection data collected by someone other than the actual user
Primary data collection
• Interview
The questions were prepared and asked for interview
Interview question
S/N Questions Answers
1 How many operators are used in
monitoring a toll plaza system?
2 How long does it take to collect tax for
more than ten cars?
3 Which payment methods are used in tax
collection?
4 Do you collect tax base on difference of car
size and types?
5 Comment on the proposed system
Primary data collection
 Questionnaire
questionnaires were distribution in Dar es salaam based on KIGAMBONI
NYERERE BRIDGE to be filled by 30 residents in order to obtain data that
will show validation of the existing system
