 In the world of advance electronics, life of human beings
should be simpler hence to make life more simpler and
convenient, we have made “AUTOMATIC WATER PUMP
SYSTEM”.
 A model of controlling WATER PUMP facilities to help
millions of people. This model uses sensor technology with
microcontroller to make a smart switching device .
 The model shows the basic switching mechanism of Water
motor using sensors from any part of field by sensing the
moisture present in the soil.
Literature Review

 energy is the most abundant source of energy in the

World. Power is not only an answer to today’s energy
crisis but also an environmental friendly form of energy.

 Photovoltaic generation is an efficient approach for using

the energy. powered WATER PUMP system can be a
suitable alternative for farmers in the present state of
energy crisis automatic WATER PUMP system using
power which drives water pumps to pump water from bore
well to a tank and the outlet valve of tank is automatically
regulated using controller and moisture sensor to control
the flow rate of water from the tank to the WATER PUMP
field which optimizes the use of water.

• Moisture Sensor

 Used to measure the volumetric water content by using the

dielectric constant, electric resistance properties of soil.
 It uses two probes, when inserted into the soil provides the
repeated moisture readings used for the WATER PUMP.
 More water makes the soil to conduct more easily
(less resistance) while dry soil conducts poorly (more
resista)

• Microcontroller

 Microcontroller used is 8051CA

 8 bit controller
 Used for reading the values from the soil moisture sensor and
controlling the relay to the motor.

AUTOMATIC WATER PUMP SYSTEM

• Relay

 It is an electric switch that use an electromagnet to move the switch

from OFF to ON position instead of a person moving the switch.
 Single pole double throw relay is used

• DC Motor

 An electric motor uses electric energy to produce mechanical

energy.
 Electric motors are found in household appliances such as fans,
16
pool pumps, refrigerator, washing machines etc
AUTOMATIC WATER PUMP SYSTEM
APPLICATIONS
 WATER PUMP In Fields.
 IIrrrigation In Gardens, Parks.
 Very Efficient For Paddy, Rice Fields.

 Picsiculture..
MERITS
 Highllyy sensitive, Low cost and reliable circuit.
 Woorrks according to the soil condition.
 Complete elimination of manpower.
 Can handle heavy loads up to 7A.
 System can be switched into manual mode whenever
required.
DEMERITS
 This is applicable for only large farms.
 Have limited life after installation due to the detoriation of
the plastic component in a hot, arid climate when exposed
to ultraviolet light.
