Matter

By: Benjamin James T. Adriano

MATTER

Matter is anything that occupies space

and has mass and volume.
Phases of Matter

SOLID - is composed of tightly packed particles. A solid will retain

its shape; the particles are not free to move around.
LIQUID - liquidis a nearly incompressible fluid that conforms to the
shape of its container but retains a (nearly) constant volume
independent of pressure. and is the only state with a definite
volume but no fixed shape.
GAS - is a state of matter that has no fixed shape and no fixed
volume. Gases have lower density than other states of matter,
such as solids and liquids. There is a great deal of empty space
between particles, which have a lot of kinetic energy. ... The
particles exert more force on the interior volume of the container.
