In a peaceful location next to the scenic Paoay Lake, the opulent former estate
where the Marcos family spent their holidays is open to the public. The
impressive house, with its cavernous sala (living room), capiz-shell windows and
other colonial touches, provides a glimpse into the family’s lavish lifestyle; the
golf course where Marcos used to tee off now belongs to Fort Ilocandia.

Marcos Museum
The former home where Ferdinand Marcos was born on 11 September 1917
takes pride of place in the small village of Sarrat, 15km east of Laoag.
The displays embellish the former dictator's legal career, and the nearby Santa
Monica Church hosted the wedding of Marcos' youngest daughter in 1983 – at
a price tag of over US$10 million.

Travelers who came to the Cordillera region cannot miss the truly
fascinating Echo Valley in Sagada, known for its hanging coffins on
limestone walls. Hanging coffins is a tradition still practiced to this day
believing that the deceased is considered to be closer to their gods.

Ancient coffins can be seen stacked in the mouth of the nearby burial cave,
a very unique scenery only in Echo Valley. The Cordillera Region is also
visited for a chance to experience the tribal culture. In the midst of a
creative colony, nine traditional tribal quarters have been reassembled just
outside Baguio in Tam-awan Village.
