WHAT SHOULD WE DO BEFORE A
FIRE?
• Schedule and always remember one or two evacuation routes from where you are, whether at home or at work
• Keep doors and windows free of furniture or other objects that could block the exit
• Do not leave matches, lighters or other sources of heat within the reach of children
• If you smoke, do so in a safe place. Do not smoke in bed and put out cigarette butts and matches.
• Before lighting a gas appliance, check that there is no odor
• When leaving the home, turn off all gas or electrical appliances. Do not leave candles burning
• Never leave children locked up
• Keep flammable objects such as clothing, furniture, newspapers, and magazines away from fireplaces, stoves, or stoves.
• Put stoves out of reach of children
• Avoid using triples or plugging several electrical appliances into the same outlet
• Maintain electrical installations in good condition. Do not recharge them or make temporary repairs. Replace bad cables
• Maintain the heating system and stoves in good condition
• Keep all appliances in good condition, and perform only maintenance with warranty
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO DURING A
FIRE?
• 21. ALWAYS call the fire department and alert the rest of the people in the building, even if the fire seems
small.
• If you can try to exit:
• 22. If there is smoke on the way, you have to crawl to the exit, covering your mouth and nose with a wet
towel
• 23. Use a flashlight to aid evacuation
• 24. Try to carry a fire extinguisher when evacuating, to be able to open the way
• 25. If you are in a building, never use the elevators
• 26. Touch the doors before opening them: if the door is hot, do not open it and look for an alternative exit
• 27. Close the doors as you leave the rooms, in order to isolate the fire and reduce the amount of oxygen
• 28. If your clothes catch fire when you leave, you should not run. You have to throw yourself to the ground
covering your face with your hands and roll quickly back and forth until the flames are extinguished
IF SMOKE AND FIRE HAVE INVADED THE EXIT
STAIRS OR CORRIDORS AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE
TO GET OUT:
• 29. Curtains and other combustible materials must be removed from windows
and balconies
• 30. Close the main door, open the faucets and accumulate as much water as
possible
• 31. Wet towels, blankets, or other clothing and place them under doors. Keep
them constantly moist
• 32. Avoid opening windows as much as possible
• 33. Alert the presence by calling by phone or placing a conspicuous cloth on the
windows
• 34. Do not re-enter a burning building from which you have managed to get out
WHAT CAN WE DO AFTER A FIRE?
• 35. Call the insurance company.
• 36. Rescue the important documentation that has remained and the objects and belongings that
have not been destroyed, after the firefighters authorize the re-entry
• There are many causes that can cause a fire. I will not list them in this article. But I thought it
was a good contribution to point out some actions to take BEFORE, DURING and AFTER a
fire. At the end of the list I make a small evaluation of them.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I APPRECIATE WITH ALL
MY HEART THE ATTENTION YOU HAVE GIVEN ME
