CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

• With globalization, competition and challenges between countries are becoming more intense and brutal. The rules governing
production and trade in the global economy have been reshaped. International generation plants, especially in the logistics industry, are
rapidly shifting from west to east these days. As a result, Turkey should be able to anticipate the scenario and set the rules of the game
to obtain the appropriate segment of the business sector while taking advantage of its geostrategic advantage.

• Logistics bases are the logistics zones that are organized from the starting point to the end point of all transportation processes such as
distribution companies, transport companies, logistics service providers-3PL. In relation to different types of cargo transportation
systems, low-cost, fast and safe transfer, including all official institutions in the sector and trade links, domestic and international
cargoes can be stored in general, and cargo can be handled in the warehouses of Logistics Centers. In addition, value-added
transactions such as customs clearance, surveillance, quality control operations can be carried out and the necessary tools and
equipment for combined transportation can be included. In addition to container and vehicle parking areas, long-distance
transportation is provided and social facilities are located. Logistics Bases is a hub located in a defined area where all local and global
operators are involved in transit transportation and all services related to the entire supply chain dimension are performed
commercially by various operators. Operators may be owners or tenants of buildings and facilities constructed here. With the rapid
increase in trade between countries with globalization, products produced globally are offered to more trade by all actors. Logistics is
the basis for delivering products or services to targeted markets much faster and more economically than competitors. In this research,
I will talk about the general definition and activities of Logistics bases. In the second part, I will touch on the activities of Logistics Bases
in the world from past to present. In the third part (special focus), I will talk about the Efficiency of Logistics Bases and their Impact on

CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW

In the literature review conducted in the scope of the study, it has been seen that many positive relationships have
been revealed in many works on the Effects of Logistics Bases on International Trade, as it reduces the cost in this area
and makes transportation easier. The main ideas contained in the four studies examined within this framework are briefly
given below.
KARA, TAYFUR, BASIK (2009) on the
IMPORTANCE of LOGISTIC BASES IN GLOBAL
TRADE and by the lecturers of Mustafa Kemal University
Social Sciences Institute, Turkey's logistics base
performance is discussed. A global trade the country can be
a logistics base; to have a strong geographical, physical and
institutional infrastructure requires. Logistics services have
become an important tool to gain competitive advantage in
international markets in parallel with the globalization of
trade. A study has been made about the high performance in
logistics services, especially for developing countries to
control global trade and to have a share of the benefits of
globalization.
LOGISTICS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF 'LOGISTICS
PERFORMANCE INDEX' by PINAR and DIKEN (2020) AN
EXAMINATION ON THE EFFECT OF BASES ON THE TURKISH
ECONOMY ' has been made. The situation of Turkey regarding logistics
bases has been examined comparatively with some countries and what
needs to be done in order for our country to become better in the sector
has been examined within the boundaries of the article.
'The Impact of the Logistics Sector on Economic
Growth' research by ARABACI and YÜCEL (2020)
Development of the logistics sector is a new employment
area. It has a positive effect on economic growth by
contributing to the country's economy by providing income
and thus generating income, positively affecting direct
investments, and increasing the trade volume. Economic
growth logistics contribute to the development of the
industry. In this study, it is a study that explains the impact
of the logistics industry on economic growth.
LOCAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL
TRANSPORT AND TRADE by ELGÜN and ELİTAŞ (2011)
IN THE SELECTION OF LOGISTICS VILLAGE
CENTERS. In the research named 'A MODEL PROPOSAL',
a model was proposed and applied to determine the
establishment locations of logistics villages in Turkey, and the
results were presented and discussed with tables. For this
purpose, new candidates and regions that may be candidates
in the north-south logistics line have been compared.
Impact of SWOT Analysis on International Trade CHAPTER 3

To be successful in a sector, it is necessary to determine the advantages and disadvantages in the

existing sector and to reveal the interaction with the environment in a systematic way. For these
reasons, SWOT (SWOT) analysis, which is one of the methods that best reveals the systematic
analysis, was used in this study related to the logistics sector.

SWOT Analysis; Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats is a risk analysis that combines
the words. It is a kind of analysis system that can be used not only in business life but also in the
decision-making process related to personal life, which enables to make a decision on any subject and
to make a detailed examination on this subject and reach a positive result.
It is a strategic management tool that every organization should do and
should be updated periodically.

How can we monitor and evaluate our success?

Weaknesses: Zero policy advertising - Limited stock of products –

Controversies High fashion imitation.

Opportunities: Increasing demand for high fashion -Fast fashion -Market

Threats: Growing competition - Rising costs - Regulatory threats.

CONCLUSION

As a result, all transportation processes such as logistics bases, distribution companies,

shipping companies, logistics service providers-3PL are organized from the starting point to
the end point and are there to make this process very easy. Swot analysis, on the other hand,
allows you to analyze a company's strengths and weaknesses, while also allowing you to see
industry opportunities and threats. Before developing new marketing and sales strategies,
SWOT analysis allows you to create more accurate and effective strategies. This method allows
you to analyze very precisely and focus on the result and is also very important in the logistics
industry.
CHAPTER 4 METHODOLOGY

Type of Research

I chose the qualitative research method in my study. I will benefit from interviews with some documents and
articles related to the study.

Interwiev ;

I will investigate the impact of logistics bases on International Trade. I will see if it affects the trade flow
in Turkey positively or negatively, I will make an interview with the manager of the logistics base in Ankara
and try to get full answers to my questions.
• What is your name and surname?
• Which school and department did you graduate from?
• What is your position in this company?
• How many years of experience do you have in the logistics
industry?
• At what level did you start, what did you aim for and where are
you now?
• What exactly is the purpose of Ankara Logistics Base, and for

The Questions Are;

what purpose was it established?
• What is the reason for the logistics bases to be built in places
far from the city center?
• What are the advantages of road transport in the region where
this base is located?
• What are the possibilities of this base? Is it different from other
bases in Turkey?
• Is there any reason for not getting venture fund or government
support?
• What are the most common problems encountered at the
logistics base?
• What are the advantages of having customs in it? Could this
process have been managed so professionally if there were no
customs?
CHAPTER 5 ANALYSIS AND RESULTS

• According to the interview results; First, I'm reviewing the answer that customs process is one of the most important
things for international trade. logistic bases are important for trade as they bring together all of the shipping, logistics,
customs (etc.) processes and make them faster, more efficient and reliable. For this reason, logistics bases enable
countries to develop themselves and, if any, countries use logistics bases efficiently and increase their economic
welfare. Most importantly, in regions with logistics bases, land logistics in particular becomes much more comfortable
than others in terms of both traffic and time. The impact of logistics bases on international trade also has a huge
impact on financial terms. It is a company that helps companies in need in terms of customs, public institutions and
banks, where all their needs are met from A to Z. In addition to these, locations far from the city center are chosen,
taking into account air pollution, traffic density, operational difficulties, and not preventing living spaces and safety.
As a sectoral project to support and develop Turkey in terms of international trade, foreign trade and export-oriented
transportation services and customs services in terms of logistics companies' needs (financial, operation…) in order to
be united and together in international competition, it serves in the sense of a public structuring.
CHAPTER 6
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

The aim of this research is to investigate the impact of logistics bases on international trade, to show
the importance of logistics bases and to emphasize and understand the importance of logistics bases to
trade.

In the third part, the theory and applications in the literature as a research method are explained, then
the developments in the sector are discussed by giving place to SWOT analysis. In order to be
successful in a sector, it is necessary to determine the advantages and disadvantages in the current
sector and to reveal the interaction with the environment in a systematic way. For these reasons, SWOT
(SWOT) analysis, which is one of the methods that best reveals the systematic analysis, was used in
this study related to the logistics sector.
• In the methodology section, I chose the interview method, interviewed the
owner of a logistics company, who is also the founding head of the
Logistics base, and asked 12 questions for my purposes. We examined the
effect of logistics bases on international trade. We understood the impact
of logistics bases on international trade, and especially how far the
regions where they are located, both in terms of transportation, financial
and time.

CHAPTER 6
• My advice for future research is that those who want to do research in this
thesis should research different aspects such as researching the
disadvantages or costs of logistics bases for countries and companies.
