Genesis 24
“A TRUE LOVE STORY”
Isaac
- He is the “miracle child” or the only child of Abraham
and Sarah
- The 2nd patriarchs of Israel
- A good husband to Rebekah
- And the father of Esau and Jacob

Rebecca/ Rebekah
- She is the daughter of Bethuel, the great-niece of
Abraham, and the sister of Laban.
- She was also the granddaughter of Milcah and Nahor,
the brother of Abraham.
- A wife to Isaac and a mother to Esau and Jacob
Abraham to his
Loyal Servant:
S
“ wear to me that you will
find a wife for my son, who
knows God not from the women
here in Canaan who worship
idols. But return to my
hometown and find a maiden
there.”
The servant took ten of
his master’s camels and
set off on a long journey.
 The Loyal Servant
Prayed for a sign

“O h Lord, God of my Master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast
love to my master Abraham. I pray that while I am standing here by this spring of water, the
maiden who is to be Isaac’s wife will not only serve for me water at my bidding but will also
offer water to my camels.”
The Servant met
Rebekah

Rebekah gave the servant a drink, and

fetch some water for the thirsty camels
as well.

The servant studied her, while she went

about the difficult task of watering ten
thirsty camels. He could see that she
was kind as she was beautiful
 Laban invited the servant to stay
in his father’s home and to join the
family for dinner, as they sat down to
eat the servant interrupted, “I cannot
eat until I have done everything my
master sent me to do.”

And he began to explain all that have

taken place, after listening to the servant’s
amazing story, they all agreed that it was
God who led him to Rebekah.
 When the morning came he
said, “Send me back to my master.”
Rebekah’s mother and brother dreaded
seeing her leave so soon. They pleaded,
“Let her stay with us a few more days;
after that she shall go.” But the servant
told them that he must return home
right away.

Because of Rebekah’s great faith she knew the Lord would bless her. She answered, “I
will go.” Rebekah was leaving the family she loved. She was going to a foreign land to
marry a man she had never met, yet she knew it was the right thing to do.
 A s they approach the settlement, Rebekah
said to the servant “Who was the man walking in
the field toward us?” The servant replied,” he is my
master.”

The servant answered, “It is Isaac.”

Rebekah quickly covered her face with a
veil jumped from the camel to greet Isaac. She
was excited, for she was about to meet the man
God had chosen to be her husband.
 Isaac and Rebekah
had trusted in the
Lord, and he had
brought them
together to be
husband and wife.

Isaac and Rebekah were finally introduced, and it was truly love at first sight. They met and got
married the very same day and had a long and happy life together.
