 EXTRACTIVE POTENTIAL IRON SANDS
Minerals are iron sand along the coast in the subdistrict Puger, Gumukmas and
Kencong District Jember a placer deposition . In general, iron sand deposits are
found in coastal areas the subdistrict Puger - Gumukmas and Kencong.
sand dunes with the formation of the iron sand parallel to the coast and its
height ranges from 2.5 m to 16 meters above sea level
Based on granular iron sand deposits near the beach is bigger and farther away
from the coast smooth. From the analysis in order to know that a large fraction of
grain or iron sand deposits on the southern coast spreading between 40-200 mesh
with each fraction levels between 30-60%.
The results of analysis by using a binocular microscope observation shows
the actual average - average iron mineral sands along the south coast district are
as follows: grade magnetite (Fe3O4) = 41%, pyroxene = 42.5% = 11.5% olivine,
quartz = 3.5%. Percentage Magnetism (MD) average iron sand minerals obtained
in the field is = 5.65%. The calculations show an average weight type iron sand
minerals in the district. Jember is = 3.11 tonnes / m3

Deposition of manganese found associated with limestone and limestone
breccia in the shape of the lens - a small lens and fill the cavity - cavity limestones

Manganese minerals scattered in subdistrict Wuluhan and Ambulu,
including in rural Lojejer, Grintingan and sumberrejo. Sumberejo Village,
manganese precipitates found in the local-local limestone breccia with
grayish white color - gray is partially oxidized. Location where outcrops of
manganese is found based on regional geological maps and partly alluvial
plains occupy occupy Puger Formation.
Other locations in Hamlet Sebanen / Swipe, Village Grintingan also
found that manganese deposition associated with limestone reefs white
gray - gray, based on regional geological maps occupy alluvial plains. At the
same location a distance of 150 m ± limestone breccia encountered
brownish white and manganese associated with calcite and containing
fossils.

Subdistrict Silo
Manganese minerals in this area are generally at subdistrict Silo
particular in Mulyorejo Village and Village Pace, which in this area is
already contained 5 IUP CV. Wahyu Sejahtera, CV. Bumi Jaya, CV.
Tunas Mas, CV. Soerya Persada Sakti and KSU Sinar Batu Mulya.
Lithology in this area is composed of volcanic rock formations
Merubetiri and Mandiku , Batuampar Formation sedimentary rocks,
limestone formations and members Sukamade Merubetiri which as
a whole can serve as the host rock mineralization. Dacite intrusive
rocks, diorite and granodiorite which is estimated as the heat source
for the hydrothermal process and can serve as carriers of
mineralization in this area include the mineral manganese.

DAN GALENA
Secara fisiografi daerah penyelidikan termasuk jalur pegunungan Selatan
Jawa Timur dengan litologi yang didominasi oleh batuan gunungapi Formasi
“old andesit” terjadi mineralisasi emas dan mineral pengikutnya pada batuan
breksi, lava dan tuff berumur Oligo – Miosen (R.W. van Bemmelen, 1970).
Berdasarkan peta geologi lembar Jember, Banyuwangi dan Blambangan
yang diterbitkan P3G Bandung, litologinya tersusun oleh batuan vulkanik
Formasi Merubetiri dan Mandiku, batuan sedimen Formasi Batuampar,
Sukamade dan anggota batugamping Formasi Merubetiri yang secara
keseluruhan dapat berfungsi sebagai host rock mineralisasi. Batuan intrusi
dasit, diorit dan granodiorit yang diperkirakan sebagai sumber panas bagi
proses hidrothermal dan dapat berfungsi sebagai pembawa mineralisasi di
daerah ini. Pada Formasi Merubetiri yang terdiri dari perselingan breksi
gunungapi, lava dan tufa andesit, mengalami ubahan propilitisasi sebagai
indikasi terjadinya proses hidrothermal. Bahan galian emas, tembaga dan
galena tersebar pada dua kecamatan, yaitu pada Kecamatan Tempurejo dan
Silo.

Bahan galian ini tersebar pada hampir diseluruh kecamatan yang
ada di Kabupaten Jember, penyebaran sirtu ini terdapat bukit – bukit
(gumuk) atau tegalan yang gersang. Untuk daerah perbukitan (gumuk)
biasanya daerah tersebut ditambang kemudian setelah datar dijadikan
lahan pemukiman sehingga masyarakat yang memiliki lahan mendapat
2 keuntungan yaitu dari hasil tambang dan nilai tambah setelah
penambangan selesai, sedangkan tegalan yang gersang selain diambil
hasil tambangnya, juga tanah bekas tambang bisa memiliki nilai tambah
setelah berubah menjadi sawah atau kolam ikan.
Penyebaran sirtu juga terdapat pada sungai-sungai, sirtu di tempat
ini bisa diambil selama pengambilan tersebut bertujuan untuk
mengurangi sedimentasi atau pengambilan kebawah sehingga sungai
menjadi dalam dan mengurangi resiko terjadi luapan banjir.
