What is it?

• It’s a team sport where two teams oppose

each other with the primary objective of
shooting a basketball through the defenders
hoop.
• A field goal is worth two points. Also you
could try to make a throw behind three-point
line because it is worth three points.
Origins

• First played in 1891 December.

• At first the hoops were peach baskets and they had
their bottom intact.
• Later the bottom intact was removed.
• If you could get the basketball in the basket it
would reward you one point.
Official basketball games

• Originally baskets were nailed to the mezzanine

balcony of playing court.
• First ever official game was played in January 20th
1892 and it was played in a court half the size of a
present-day court.
Positions

• Every player has his own position.

• Positions are: point guard, shooting
guard, small forward, power
forward and center. Power
forwards and centers are usually
the highest players in the team.
• If something not planned happens
then second ant third (fourth and
fifth) positions can easily swap.
Fouls
Personal foul

• Player gets a personal foul if he attempts to unfairly

disadvantage an opponent through certain types of
physical contact.
Technical fouls

• It’s usually given for an

unsportsman conduct
• Repeated accidents can result in a
disqualification.
