INTRODUCTION
The term startup refers to a company in the first stages of operations. Startups are founded by
one or more entrepreneurs who want to develop a product or service for which they believe
there is demand. These companies generally start with high costs and limited revenue, which
is why they look for capital from a variety of sources such as venture capitalists. [1]
Nowadays there are many startups over the world some of them grow greatly and the others
failed and disappeared, in this work we will talk about a famous world wide startup that is
AMAZON, we will see what is AMAZON, its creation , history, development, advantages,
disadvantages and its fluence over the world
WHAT IS AMAZON?
Amazon.com is a vast Internet-based enterprise created by Jeff Bezos that sells books, music,
movies, housewares, electronics, toys, and many other goods, either directly or as the middleman
between other retailers and Amazon.com’s millions of customers. Its Web services business
includes renting data storage and computing resources, so-called “cloud computing,” over the
Internet. Its considerable online presence is such that, in 2012, 1 percent of all Internet traffic in
North America traveled in and out of Amazon.com data centers.[2]

The company also makes the market-leading Kindle e-book readers. Its promotion of these devices
has led to dramatic growth in e-book publishing and turned Amazon.com into a major disruptive
force in the book-publishing market.[2]
HISTORY OF AMAZON AND ITS DEVELOPMENT
Amazon was founded in 1994 by Jeffrey P. Bezos. Jeff Bezos incorporated the company (as
Cadabra) in July 1994. The name Amazon was founded soon after because the Amazon River is the
largest in the world, and the letter “A” would help the company to show up at the top of alphabetical
lists. and the site went online as Amazon.com in 1995. The name Amazon was founded soon after

first profit was reached in the last quarter of 2001.The logo itself is the company name. Amazon,
with an arrow below, pointing from A to Z, representing that they could provide every product in the
alphabet and also customer satisfaction, as it forms a smile. Amazons headquarters is in Seattle
Washington United States. A major provider of cloud computing services.[3]
HISTORY OF AMAZON AND ITS DEVELOPMENT

Amazons stock was opened to the public in 1997 under the Nasdaq symbol AMZN at the price of
$18.00 per share. The stock prices over the past 10 years have increased from around $20 a share
to nearly $170 per share.The last great climb in stock prices began in 2008 and the company has
managed to stay on top. Amazon's goal for the stock price is $400. The progress has gradually
continued steadily over the years and there is no sign that this company’s growth will stop anytime
soon. One thing that is the similar between the Amazon of today and the Amazon of 20 years ago
is that there are still many problems..[3]

Nowadays AMAZON ‘s Annual Revenue is $61.09 Billion and has 97,000 of Employees and it’s
Famous for Being the world’s largest online retailer.
ADVANTAGES

• Over 240 million Amazon customers worldwide [4]

• Many potential buyers are looking for products only on Amazon [4]

• A fair bit of "Traffic" from the very first minute without having to pay for extra advertising [4]

• You don´t need your own Shop Software [4]

• By using the option „Shipping via Amazon" (FBA) you outsource your entire shipping logistics
and benefit from low shipping cost [4]

• Well established Amazon partner program for affiliates [4]


DISADVANTAGES

• Amazon Sales Charge - depending on the product category between 7% and 20% [4]

• With the option „Shipping via Amazon“ shipping costs have to be included in the sale price [4]

• Several providers of the same product can result a price battle [4]

• Possibly limited opportunities to directly influence the display of a product [4]

CONCLUSION

There are many startups begin like AMAZON small and in far or isolate location and has a

exceptional ideas especial in our country of ALGERIA and their creator need just some little

support and supervision to continue and develop and we hope our country will give them that

support because it will affect the local economy and evolve it to a greater and richer one.
