It is my personal conviction that people should look after their parents when they get old.
• In British English, many verbs end with the suffix –ISE (criticISE- recognISE, etc.) but in American
English this suffix is spelled –IZE (criticIZE – reccognIZE, etc)
• If an adjective ends in –E, we usually replace -E with –LY to make the adverb.
e.g. responsiblE responsibLY
• If an adjective ends in –IC, we add –ALLY to make the adverb.
e.g. realistIC realisticALLY

In British English, when a word ends in –R or –RE, the /r/ sound is only pronounced when the next word begins with a vowel sound.
In American English, the /r/ sound is always pronounced.
