Solution Methods
Two different methods have been utilized in order to solve this multi (tri)-objective optimization model. The
first one is the Epsilon Constraint method (EC), whereas, the second one is the Goal Programming (GP).
In EC, only one objective function is selected as the primary objective function, while other objective
functions are transformed to be the left-hand sides of the constraints of the problem. We continue to iterate
until the model gives us an infeasible solution. When infeasibility occurs, then we stop the iteration.
In GP, the aim is to minimize the deviations from preference values for each objective that are determined by
the decision makers. The notation for di + and di - are over and under achievement of the objectives,
respectively. The preference level for each objective i is denoted by g(i). We used specific values of our
preference for the g values where g1 is a preference value of total cost, g2 is the preference level for total
evacuation time of the affected areas and g3 is number of opened shelters to serve victims.
