• What is an arithmetic sequence?
• How can we identify whether the given
sequence is an arithmetic or not?
Activity 6

sequence.
• 1. 3, 12, 21, __, __, __
• 2. 8, 3, -2 , __, __
• 3. 5, 12, __, 26, __
• 4. 2, __, 20, 29, __
• 5. __, 4, 10, 16, __
• B. Find three terms between 2
and 34 of an arithmetic sequence
• Were you able to get the missing terms in
each sequence in Part A?
• Were you able to get the 3 terms in Part B?
• Let us discuss a systematic way of finding
missing terms of an arithmetic sequence.
Arithmetic Means
• Finding a certain number of terms between two
given terms of an arithmetic sequence is a
common task in studying arithmetic sequences.
The terms between any two nonconsecutive
terms of an arithmetic sequence are known as
arithmetic means.
• Arithmetic mean is the average of two numbers
which is between the numbers. The first and
last terms of a finite arithmetic sequence are
called arithmetic extremes, and the terms in
between are called arithmetic means.
Formula of Arithmetic Mean
Insert 4 arithmetic means between 5 and 25.
Individual Activity
• Find the missing terms in each arithmetic
sequence.
• 1. 17, 14, __, __, 5
