Vitamin
• Vitamins are a group of substances needed in small
amounts by the body to maintain health.
• Vitamin A cannot be made by the human body and
so it is an essential part of the diet.

• Source
There are two source of vitamin
a) Vegetable vitamin
b) Animal vitamine
What is vitamin A deficiency?

• Deficiency, or a lack, of vitamin A in your

body happens because of a lack of
sufficient amounts of vitamin A in your
diet. Over time, a lack of vitamin A means
that you may develop problems with vision
and be less able to fight infections
What are the causes of vitamin
A deficiency?

• Vitamin A deficiency may be caused by prolonged

inadequate intake of vitamin A.
• Vitamin A deficiency may also occur when your body is
unable to make use of the vitamin A in your diet.
What symptoms are caused by vitamin A deficiency?

• Eye and vision problems

• Dry skin
• dry hair
• Severe sight impairment (due to damage
to the retina) at the back of the eye.

A supplements.
Iron deficiency anemia
• Iron deficiency anemia is a common type of
anemia — a condition in which blood lacks
adequate healthy red blood cells.
• Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body's
tissues.
• As the name implies, iron deficiency anemia is
due to insufficient iron.
• As a result, iron deficiency anemia may leave
you tired and short of breath.
Causes of iron deficiency
anemia
•  Inadequate iron intake
Eating too little iron over an extended amount of time can
cause a shortage in your body. Foods such as meat, eggs, and
some green leafy vegetables are high in iron. Because iron is
essential during times of rapid growth and development,
pregnant women and young children may need even more iron-
rich foods in their diet.
• Pregnancy or blood loss due to menstruation
Heavy menstrual bleeding and blood loss during childbirth are
the most common causes of iron deficiency anemia in women
of childbearing age.
• Internal bleeding

Certain medical conditions can cause internal

bleeding, which can lead to iron deficiency
anemia. Examples include an ulcer in your
stomach, polyps in the colon or intestines, or
colon cancer. Regular use of pain relievers, such
as aspirin, can also cause bleeding in the
stomach.
• Inability to absorb iron

Certain disorders or surgeries that affect the

intestines can also interfere with how your body
absorbs iron. Even if you get enough iron in your
diet, celiac disease or intestinal surgery such as
gastric bypass may limit the amount of iron your
body can absorb.
